This project explores what remains when a person dies and how this changes our perception. The objects that belonged to my grandfather Max Bächinger, once part of everyday life, become memories, clues to his personality and traces of what he did for others, especially for my grandmother. Within the framework of the exhibition theme ‘Horizons’, I was interested in the moment of transition between presence and absence, between function and meaning. The series shows the change that a life leaves behind, while conveying personal reflection and documentary closeness. I was able to exhibit this independent project at the Bieler Fototage 2025, a process that helped me to come to terms with my loss and at the same time touch others with this work.
